5 USES FOR O MY! ESSENTIAL OILS

This month, at O My! we are thrilled to announce the introduction of our new line of Essential Oils. Held to the same rigorous standards as our other products, our essential oils are top quality, and 100% Pure. We offer a variety of oils, each packaged in a child-resistant, tamper proof, 1 oz bottle.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, you’ve heard all about the rise of essential oils in popularity. In response to the abundance of harsh chemicals and additives in many of today’s beauty products, it seems that consumers are now seeking out safe and all-natural alternatives to treat everyday issues and to stimulate better health and general well-being. At the forefront of this movement, it has become widely accepted that essential oils have a multitude of uses beyond their traditional aromatherapy applications. In order to help you get the most out of your essential oils, we have compiled a list of five ways to maximize use of your essential oils and to help you incorporate them in to your daily (or monthly) routines!

1. DIFFUSION
Perhaps the most popular method for using your essential oils, diffusion is also one of the easiest. Ultrasonic Diffusers, available from a variety of brick-and-mortar and online retailers, are designed to disperse a super fine mist. This mist carries the essential oil, dispersing its aromatic and healing benefits throughout the space in a short amount of time. This is a great way to receive all the healing benefits of essential oils, without direct contact. Each essential oil is known for a different set of benefits. Use them individually, or combine multiple oils to make the most of your diffusion experience! One of our favorite ways to start the day: diffuse O My! Lemongrass essential oil for a balanced and refreshed morning boost.

2. BATH SOAK
Got aches and pains from a tough workout, injury, or a long day hunched over a computer? An essential oil bath will help you receive not only  aromatherapy perks, but can also help to soothe tired or aching muscles. In order to increase the healing and relaxation effects of your bath, add just a couple of essential oil, along with a tablespoon or so of a carrier like coconut oil, which aids in absorption.  We suggest a blend of peppermint and eucalyptus for a cooling, revitalizing sensation and sore muscle relief.

3. ALL-NATURAL DEODORIZER
Have trouble with a less-than fresh smelling area of your home? We recommend using essential oils to knock out stubborn, hard-to-lose smells with a bit of essential oil and baking soda. Does your trash can continue to emit unpleasant odor even after it is washed? We suggest coating the bottom of the can with baking soda, then dropping a cotton ball soaked with a few drops of essential oil and letting it sit over night before cleaning. Someone in your house suffer from stinky-sneakers? Add several drops of oil to about half a cup of baking soda, then sprinkle a bit of the mixture into the sneakers and let sit overnight for an odor eliminating treatment. Our pick for a fresh and neutralizing scent - O My! 100% Pure Eucalyptus Essential Oil.

4. BEDTIME SALT BOWL
Millions of people suffer from insomnia and difficulty sleeping. Use an essential oil bedtime salt bowl to help calm your mind and soothe yourself into a good night’s sleep. Commonly known for it’s relaxing effects, our fragrant lavender essential oil is a great choice for helping you get some rest without counting all those silly sheep (here at O My! we prefer goats, anyway). To make your own salt bowl, place approximately 1/4 cup of epsom salts in a small bowl and top with 10 drops of lavender, or your favorite, essential oil. The salt helps to slow down the evaporation rate of the oil, allowing for slow diffusion throughout the night. Wake up refreshed and ready to take on the day!

5. MASSAGE
There is no better way to treat yourself than an aromatherapy massage with your favorite scent. Allow the essential oils, activated by the warmth generated by skin-to-skin contact of massage, to soothe and treat tired and sore muscles and joints. It is important to note that essential oils can cause irritation if applied directly to the skin in large quantities. To make your own massage oil, choose a carrier oil (coconut, jojoba or almond oil are some of our faves) and pair it with the essential oil of your choice. We suggest a ratio of 1:100 essential oil to carrier oil (roughly 1 drop of essential oil per teaspoon of carrier oil). Our pick for a great-smelling, mood-boosting massage oil blend? O My! Sweet Orange Essential Oil and Almond Oil as a carrier.

Relax and enjoy! Cheers to making the most out of your essential oils to promote a happy, healthy and well-balanced life!
